Road Trip to Redemption By Brad Mathias

Road Trip to Redemption By Brad Mathias

This is a true story that chronicles a family's trip across the U.S.  Brad is a successful, decent man who has made some bad choices.  He leaves his family and after some soul-searching and time with God, his heart is changed.  God blesses him with a second chance at life with his family.  When he finally is allowed back home by his faithful, forgiving wife, life is beautiful again.  Soon, Brad and his wife discover that their daughter is not just being "a teen" with her moods and hostility.  Something is desperately wrong.  Once Brad finds the real reason for his beloved daughter's personality change, he gets a very special whisper from God to take his family on a 2 week trip across America.  Little does Brad know it will change his family forever.
I loved this story from the very first page--the dedication.  I didn't know how this story was going to relate to me because I do not have a daughter with similar circumstances.  But it definitely did.  I am always looking for a good Christian book about God's redemption, grace and forgiveness and His unbelievable work in our lives--this was it!  This was a beautiful book that spoke of God taking one family's messed up, broken pieces and healing hearts and lives.  Sometimes Brad questioned whether God was really at work in his family's life and the choices he was making.  God always, as I've discovered with my life and this family's life, always appears at His perfect timing and relieves our doubts and fears.    This story shows that sometimes, life is too painful and broken for us to do anything.  Sometimes we have to let it all go and let God-- to fully trust God to take it all out of our hands and let Him do the mending, healing, and redeeming.
I would recommend this book to anyone experiencing pain and loss, heartbreak and sin--whether it is your sin or sin against you.  It teaches us that God wants more from us than to just believe, He wants us to fall in love with Him--as well, as our children.  God' grace and mercy is enough and His love is beyond comprehension.  Give it to God and He will taken the broken pieces and restore and redeem our hearts and lives.  Beautiful story of God's amazing work on one ordinary family!!
